Barça Set to Play First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome the Basque side in La Liga 30 months after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
