Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
