The relatives of young people lost after a deadly fire at a establishment in a Swiss alpine town are confronting an painful wait for official news and appealing for clues about their children online.

The fire devastated the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated footage depict the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have stated that it could take an extended period to formally name the victims of the disaster, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and injured another over a hundred. Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around midnight on New Year's Eve, his father said.
