Palestinian-American Teenager Freed After Nine Months in Israeli Detention

A Palestinian-American adolescent after completing a nine-month period in Israeli detention without being charged has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention in February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.

Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital right after being freed, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

In a statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we are focused on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he needs after experiencing Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance than the safety and security of American nationals"," it added.

A group of American legislators endorsed a document to the state department and the White House, urging greater action for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son since the arrest, learning information solely what had happened to him through judicial records.

He stayed without charge in Ofer prison in the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities including killings.

An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, and international organizations, say some have suffered physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced they would maintain their efforts seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

Initially, defense forces stated authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian had been killed.

The two cousins had worked together in the family ice cream shop in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand US authorities to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
